How to measure
-
Measure a ring that fits
Use a ring worn on the same finger. Lay it on a ruler and read the inside edge to inside edge in millimeters. Match the number to inner diameter.
-
Or measure the finger
Wrap a strip of paper around the base of the finger. Mark where it overlaps. Lay it flat and measure to the mark in millimeters. Match the number to circumference.
-
Check the knuckle
The ring has to pass over the knuckle. If the knuckle is wider than the base of the finger, measure it too and use the larger number.
-
Measure warm, measure twice
Fingers are smaller when cold and larger at the end of the day. Measure in the evening, at room temperature, two or three times.
Between sizes
Size up.
Wide bands, like a signet, sit tighter than thin bands. On a wide band the larger size matters most.
