What is ETCH jewelry made of?
Stainless steel with a gold PVD finish. PVD (physical vapor deposition) bonds the finish to the steel in a vacuum chamber. Each product page lists its own finish.
Exceptions: Bound has black IP plating. Shadow has a black stainless bezel. Signal and Thread are silicone cords on a gold-finish steel clasp. Some pieces are set with cubic zirconia.

Is it waterproof?
Yes. Shower, swim and sleep in it. Rinse after salt water or chlorine and pat dry.

Will it tarnish?
The finish is tarnish resistant. Perfume, lotion and cleaning products wear any finish faster. Put them on first, jewelry last.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, a drop of mild soap, a soft cloth. Dry it fully. No harsh chemicals, no abrasive cleaners. More in the care guide.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Stainless steel contains nickel bound in the alloy. It is not nickel-free, and we do not sell it as hypoallergenic. With a nickel allergy, email info@etch.la before you order.

Which pieces can be engraved?
Every piece in the Engravable line: rings, pendants and the Bound chain. Essentials are sold as they are. Engraving is optional. Leave the field empty and the piece ships blank.

What can I engrave?
Letters, numbers, spaces and . , & - ' / ♡. Each piece has its own character limit, shown at the engraving field on the product page. Small faces take one initial. Larger faces take a name or a date.

Can I see the engraving before I order?
The engraving field previews your text as you type. The preview shows length and spacing. We engrave exactly what you type, letter for letter.

When is it engraved?
After you order. Every engraved piece is engraved to order. Nothing is engraved in advance.

What ring sizes do you carry?
US 4 to 9, whole sizes. Measure with the ring size guide. Between sizes, size up.

Do pendants come with a chain?
No. Pendants are sold without a chain. Chains and cords are sold separately, so you choose what carries it.
